eLearning

When the pandemic hit, I was in my second year of teaching. Educators everywhere were forced to pivot to virtual learning with little time, training, or notice. I saw this as an opportunity to build an engaging, virtual language arts course for my 5th grade students so they would receive a strong education no matter where they were. Using an eLearning platform, Schoology, I built my reading course from the ground up to be utilized with both my virtual and in-person classes.

Upon login, students were welcomed to the course and were given a link to current lessons.

On the homepage of the course, I created buttons used to access important links and resources such as ClassDojo and Clever.

Consistency is key.

Design across my course and connected sites was welcoming to students. I kept the design consistent and user-friendly for my 5th graders and their families.

Organization is key.

Course materials for the year were organized simply by quarters and weeks. Students could easily return to prior learning for review.
